This traditional craft has been passed down through generations in Japan’s Tohoku region. Each piece is carefully crafted by hand using these time-honored techniques.
During the rainy season, when the bark absorbs moisture and softens, artisans carefully harvest only the outer layer from mountain cherry trees. Once brought back to the workshop, the bark undergoes a time-consuming preparation process and is then crafted into a pen tray using techniques passed down through generations.
No artificial coatings or dyes are applied whatsoever; instead, the lustrous texture inherent to the mountain cherry wood is left to shine through.

日本の東北地方で、何世代にもわたって受け継がれてきた伝統の技。その技を用いて、一つひとつ丁寧に仕立てています。
梅雨の時期、湿気を含んで樹皮がやわらかくなる頃を見計らい、職人が山桜の木から表皮だけを慎重に採取します。工房に持ち帰った樹皮は、時間をかけて下処理を施し、代々受け継がれてきた技法によって、ひとつのペントレーへと仕上げられます。
人工的な塗装や着色は一切施さず、山桜そのものが持つ艶やかな風合いをそのまま生かしました。
